Samsung Galaxy S26 FE Brings One UI 9, Galaxy AI and Upgraded Cameras From RM2,499

Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy S26 FE, the newest addition to the Galaxy S26 family and the first device in the lineup to launch with One UI 9 out of the box.

Positioned as the more accessible entry into the Galaxy S26 series, the Galaxy S26 FE focuses on Samsung’s core flagship experiences, including an upgraded camera system, newer Galaxy AI features, a 120Hz AMOLED display and a larger 4,900mAh battery.

In Malaysia, the Galaxy S26 FE will be available from 4 September 2026, with prices starting at RM2,899, while launch promotions bring the effective price down to as low as RM2,499.

More Intelligent Camera Features for Photos and Video

Samsung is putting plenty of emphasis on the camera experience this time around.

The Galaxy S26 FE features a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and up to 30x digital zoom. On the front is an upgraded 12MP selfie camera.

One of the more interesting additions is My FanCam, a feature first introduced on Samsung’s latest foldables.

Users can select a person while recording and the phone will automatically track the subject, keeping them centred while intelligently reframing the video as they move. It is particularly useful for concerts, performances, sports or other situations where keeping a moving subject in frame can be difficult.

There is also Super Steady with Horizontal Lock, designed to produce smoother and more level video when filming while walking, travelling or capturing fast-moving action.

For low-light photography, Samsung’s signature Nightography features return, with image processing designed to preserve details while producing brighter and clearer shots at night.

Photo Assist Lets You Edit Using Natural Language

Galaxy AI also plays a larger role after a photo has been taken.

With Photo Assist, users can describe the changes they want using natural language prompts. According to Samsung, this can include transforming a daytime photo into a night scene, adding new elements or restoring missing portions of an image.

The editing process can also be reviewed step by step, allowing users to revise or undo individual changes instead of simply accepting the final AI-generated result.

For video creation, Gemini Omni can work with photos and videos stored in the Gallery to help create and edit clips into more polished, ready-to-share videos.

One UI 9 Brings More Context-Aware Galaxy AI

The Galaxy S26 FE is the first device in the S26 lineup to ship with One UI 9, introducing updated Galaxy AI experiences designed to become more aware of a user's daily context.

Now Brief, which first appeared on the Galaxy S25 series, has been expanded with more customisable briefing cards covering information such as weather and wellness insights.

Users can also create their own cards using prompts, allowing the feature to provide information that is more relevant to their routines.

Meanwhile, Now Nudge has expanded support for selected third-party applications and notifications. The idea is to surface timely recommendations or actions throughout the day rather than requiring users to manually search through different apps.

Circle to Search with Google has also been upgraded, allowing multiple items inside the same image to be searched simultaneously. This makes it possible to identify several products, objects, places or other items from one image in a single step.

6.7-inch AMOLED Display and 4,900mAh Battery

The Galaxy S26 FE comes with a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display supporting a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and brightness of up to 1,900 nits.

Under the hood is Samsung's Exynos 2500 processor, built on a 3nm process, paired with 8GB RAM and storage options of 128GB, 256GB or 512GB.

Powering the device is a 4,900mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging.

Samsung claims the Galaxy S26 FE can reach up to 69% charge in around 30 minutes when used with a compatible 45W adapter, which is sold separately.

The device also supports 15W wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare.

Despite the larger battery, Samsung has kept the device relatively slim at 7.4mm, with the Galaxy S26 FE weighing 193g.

Easier Switching and Seven Years of Updates

Samsung has also upgraded Smart Switch to make migration from another Android phone or an iPhone easier.

Users can scan a QR code and transfer supported data wirelessly, including passwords, passkeys, call history, accessibility settings and compatible eSIM information, reducing the amount of manual setup required when moving to a Galaxy device.

Samsung is also promising long-term software support, with the Galaxy S26 FE receiving up to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from its global launch date.

The phone launches with Android 17 and One UI 9.

Other features include 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 and IP68 water and dust resistance.

Eligible buyers will also receive a six-month Google AI Pro trial, which includes expanded AI features and 5TB of cloud storage.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 FE will officially go on sale in Malaysia from 4 September 2026 in three colour options: Blueberry, Graphite and Pistachio.
