This Merdeka and Malaysia Day, OPPO Malaysia is celebrating the spirit of independence together with Malaysian pop-rock band Insomniacks through an original song titled “See Wider, Live Bigger.”

Inspired by the philosophy behind the OPPO Reno16 Series 5G, the collaboration encourages young Malaysians to look beyond expectations, pursue their ambitions and define success on their own terms.

Finding the Courage to See Wider and Live Bigger

Formed in Kuala Lumpur, Insomniacks rose to prominence with their 2018 single “Pulang,” which remained on Malaysia's RIM streaming charts for 146 consecutive weeks.

Since then, the band has accumulated more than 100 million views on YouTube and 61 million streams on Spotify, establishing itself as one of Malaysia's recognisable voices among younger music listeners.

For “See Wider, Live Bigger,” Insomniacks channels that same youthful perspective into a song about breaking free from the expectations of others.

The lyrics explore the journey from feeling constrained by what other people think life and success should look like, towards gaining the confidence and clarity to choose a path of your own.

The message reflects OPPO's belief that technology should empower people to look further and dream bigger, while tying directly into the Reno16 Series' own “See Wider, Live Bigger” philosophy.

Rather than treating independence simply as a national celebration, the collaboration gives it a more personal interpretation: having the courage to decide for yourself what comes next.

A Celebration of Kuala Lumpur, Shot on the Reno16 Series 5G

The accompanying “See Wider, Live Bigger” music video was shot entirely using the OPPO Reno16 Series 5G, placing Kuala Lumpur at the centre of the story.

The video opens with Insomniacks travelling around the city aboard a KL Hop-On Hop-Off bus, passing some of Kuala Lumpur's most recognisable landmarks, including the Petronas Twin Towers and Dataran Merdeka.

Elsewhere, a group of young Malaysians is shown spending time together at a café and planning their next adventure.

Their ordinary day quickly changes when the Insomniacks bus arrives. Inspired by the moment, they jump aboard and join the band, fans and other passengers for a lively journey through the city.

The road trip eventually transitions into a live performance by Insomniacks, surrounded by a crowd dressed in a mixture of everyday clothing and traditional Malaysian outfits.

What begins with separate groups of strangers ultimately becomes a shared celebration through music, reflecting the song's message that everyone can pursue their own direction while still finding community with others doing the same.

For this year's Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebrations, “See Wider, Live Bigger” therefore becomes more than a campaign slogan. It serves as an invitation for Malaysians to broaden their perspectives, discover new possibilities and have the confidence to build the future they want.
