A few months ago, WhatsApp has increased the time limit of disappearing messages, allowing you to auto-delete messages after 24 hours up to 90 days. Now, the feature can be set as a permanent default for both individual and group chats.
After you enable the feature manually, it will alert you and your chatting partner in the chatbox. You can choose to delete your messages after 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days. The feature is optional and it won't affect your existing chats, according to WhatsApp. To enable it, head to the app's Settings > Account > Privacy > Default message timer and select your preferred duration.
