Valve Has No Plans for a Subscription Service but Could Have Game Pass on Steam

With the launch of the Steam Deck, many may be wondering if Valve will follow the footsteps of the likes of Microsoft to have its own subscription service or Game Pass games in the future.

"I don't think it's something that we think we need to do ourselves, building a subscription service at this time," Valve President, Gabe Newell told PCGamer. "But for their customers, it's clearly a popular option, and we'd be more than happy to work with them to get that on Steam."

With what Newell's said, this means that we won't be seeing a "Steam Pass" subscription anytime soon but there's a possibility for Game Pass games on Steam. It looks like getting a Game Pass on Steam is just a matter of time as Newell said, "We've talked to people there quite a bit about that topic. If your customers want it, then you should figure out how to make it happen. That's where we're at." So, it wouldn't be a surprise when the day comes.
