In Week 1 of MPL Malaysia Season 15, defending champions Selangor Red Giants OG Esports (SRG) dominated the sold-out season opener, securing a 2-0 sweep over last season’s Grand Finalists, Team Vamos (VMS). SRG’s Gold Laner, John "Innocent" Vincent Banal, was named MVP after performing a historic Savage in Game 1, the first ever in MPL Malaysia's opening match. With all teammates eliminated, Innocent earned five consecutive kills and then single-handedly destroyed VMS’s crystal, securing SRG's first win. SRG wrapped up Game 2 in just 11 minutes, continuing their undefeated streak against VMS from last year.

Following their match, SRG was honored by the Malaysia Book of Records as the first team to win the Esports World Cup x Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024. Their victory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, last year marked Malaysia's first major MLBB Esports win. SRG received the award from Malaysia's Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Adam Adli, on April 19, after their match against VMS. The Deputy Minister also participated in a press conference with SRG, OG Esports, and MOONTON Games, where he praised SRG's significant partnership with OG Esports.
YB Adam expressed pride in SRG's collaboration with OG Esports, viewing it as recognition of Malaysia's homegrown talent. He emphasized that this partnership is part of a broader strategy to showcase and develop local talent, with hopes for future growth.

Day 2 opened with Homebois (HB) storming to victory against AERO Esports (AERO). Despite both teams having revamped their Season 14 rosters, it was HB who found success. HB's new loan signing, EXP Laner, Kenley "Vell" Nathaniel Zefanya, was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) after his tempo-setting qualities earned him a Kill-Death-Assists (KDA) of 5/2/10. The Indonesian will be a key part of HB's title charge this season.

On Day 2, three-time MPL Malaysia champion Todak (TDK) was defeated 2-0 by fellow all-Malaysian team Monster Vicious (MV). TDK entered Week 1 on a high after securing their spot as Malaysia's representatives in the International Esports Federation World Esports Championship (WEC) 2025 qualifiers earlier this month. However, MV delivered two dominant performances, maintaining their reputation as the league's giant killers by previously defeating SRG, VMS, and TDK during the Season 14 Regular Season.
At the end of Week 1, SRG, HB, and MV sit joint-top in the Regular Season standings on three points apiece.
Note on the Season 15 Regular Season Tiebreaker:
During the Regular Season, teams are ranked based on Live Points; these are earned based on the results of each team's Best-Of-Three matches. A 2-0 win earns teams three points; a 2-1 win earns them two points; a 1-2 loss earns teams one point; a 0-2 loss earns teams zero points.
If multiple teams are tied and are unable to determine the winner through Live Points ranking, the tied teams will be ranked by their Aggregate Points, determined by their number of winning games. Teams get one point for winning a game and deducted one point for losing a game.
The next tiebreaker will be the head-to-head record of the tied teams.

Week 2 of MPL Malaysia Season 15 will be held from April 25 to 27, with fans looking forward to the Day 3 showdown between SRG and MV, an exciting early-season match between two top teams.
