Leaker Reveals Xperia 1 III Details and Renders

A leaker has provided a glimpse at what he claims to be Sony’s new Xperia 1 III flagship phone.

OnLeaks, the same leaker who previously spoke of an upcoming 5.5-inch Xperia Compact, says that the 5G-capable Xperia 1 III will greatly resemble the Xperia 1 II in appearance, but with smaller dimensions (161.6 x 67.3 x 8.4mm) and higher thickness. It also features a flat-edge metal frame.

The new phone will apparently have a 6.5” 21:9 CinemaWide 4K HDR OLED display like the Xperia 1 II. It also maintains a triple camera rear setup with a 3D iToF sensor ZEISS T coating, but will include a periscope/telephoto lens.

Aside from that, there will be a fingerprint sensor in the power button, dual front-firing speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a MicroSDXC slot, and a new dedicated shortcut key. Info about price, aspects like the processor and front camera, and release date remain unknown for now. Considering that the first Xperia 1 was released in 2019 while the Xperia 1 II came out in 2020 however, it probably won't be a surprise if the Xperia 1 III actually shows up sometime this year.
