vivo X300 Review: The Ultimate Concert & Travel Companion!

vivo has just launched their latest iteration of their X Series in Malaysia, the new vivo X300! Despite having a compact size, this flagship is sure to deliver a premium experience for users, especially with its 200MP ZEISS Main Camera, dubbing it as the Ultimate Travel Companion! In this review, we’ll be taking a closer look at the X300’s design, display, camera, performance, and battery life to show why this device stands out as your true companion for concerts and travel.

Design

The vivo X300 showcases a stunning combination of elegance and craftsmanship with its ultra-slim and lightweight design, as it measures at 7.95mm and weighs only 190grams. This build ensures that the device has a comfortable and premium feel even when holding it.

This is further supported by the device’s a unibody 3D glass design, enhanced by the Coral Velvet Glass finish that feels silky-smooth to the touch while also ensuring that there won’t be any fingerprint stains on the back.

Aside from just its sophisticated design, the X300 also comes with an IP68 & IP69 Dust and Water Resistance, ensuring that users will not have to worry about water or dust entering the device.

The vivo X300 is available for consumers in three captivating colour selections, the Halo Pink, Mist Blue, and Phantom Black. This would allow users to be able to best suit their lifestyle and personality. The variant that I received was the Mist Blue and it is extremely elegant to both hold and look at no matter where you are.

Display

The vivo X300 comes with a 6.31-inch display which feels incredible with its 1.5K ZEISS Master Color Display with a 120Hz high refresh rate to deliver a vibrant and immersive viewing experience. In addition, the X300 features an incredibly thin 1.05mm symmetric bezel that helps to enhance the visual experience.

The device also features a peak brightness of 2000 nits and a minimum brightness as low as 1 nit, which ensures that the screen’s display remains perfectly visible whether you’re capturing photos under bright sunlight or enjoying videos in a dimly lit room.

Furthermore, eye comfort is also a factor that vivo took into consideration as it features a 2160Hz Full Range Luminance PWM Dimming with a Full Range Luminance DC Dimming in order to help reduce eye strain, especially during extended usage.

Camera

The camera features is undoubtedly the main highlight for the vivo X300 Series, with its Pro variant being dubbed as the Ultimate Concert Smartphone, and similarly the regular X300 is dubbed as a powerhouse in travel photography.

The X300 comes with a 200 MP ZEISS Ultra Main Camera which is paired with a 50MP ZEISS APO Telephoto lens and a 50MP ZEISS Ultra Wide-Angle Camera which is an impressive setup which will allow users to be able to capture stunning landscape or group pictures with no issues. The same thing goes for its Nightography Mode as well, as the pictures come out stunningly and clear.

One key feature that the vivo X300 offers its users would be the Stage Mode 2.0 feature for users to utilise. If you’re someone who enjoys going to concerts or capturing a subject from afar, then this feature is especially suitable for you, as they’ll be able to capture stunning and ultra-clear photos even when they’re standing or sitting from afar, which is a very impressive feature.

The vivo X300 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset which ensures that the device would be able to handle demanding applications, intensive graphic games and even multitasking with no issues. Alongside this, the device also comes with up to 16GB of RAM, and even includes Dynamic RAM up to 16GB ensuring a smooth and seamless performance for your device. The X300 also offers up to 512GB of storage space which allows users to have ample space for their applications, files as well as their pictures and videos.

In addition to this, the X300 features a large 4000 mm² VC liquid cooling vapor chamber which is able to improve the internal cooling of the device, even during extended use or gaming. This enhanced cooling structure ensures stable performances during gaming while also offering improved battery stability without the device overheating.

Speaking of gaming, users will also be able to enjoy gaming while using this device as the vivo X300 comes with an Esports Mode which leads to an improvement in the overall gaming performance of your device. With greater network stability, optimised display and even smoother frame rates, users will be able to fully immerse themselves in their games.

Aside from just its features, with the new OriginOS 6 system, it helps to optimise the device to help enhance daily performances and it also leads to noticeable upgrades in the phone’s responsiveness which makes the X300 an incredibly powerful device in terms of smooth performance.

Battery

The vivo X300 is equipped with a powerful 6040 mAh BlueVolt Battery which delivers a powerful battery performance and a long-lasting endurance which will ensure users will be able to last the whole day even with heavy usage, whether you’re snapping photos at a concert or playing games.

Wanting to measure the battery performance, I decided to measure the device’s battery drainage using two different means. The first was by playing games for an hour. For this test, I chose the popular open-world RPG game, Wuthering Waves, a game which is known for high battery consumption. Asides from that, the game was also set to its highest graphic settings while the game was in BOOST mode and Esports Mode was turned on as well.

The results showed that after an hour, the battery was drained by 14% after the hour, which I feel to be satisfactory as the performance of the game was set to the highest it could possibly be. 

Aside from just gaming, I also decided to measure the phone’s battery device for video playback. So, I watched a YouTube video lasting an hour at 1440p. Once the hour was up, the battery only consumed 7% which is a very impressive feat and it also showcases how reliable it is for those who enjoy watching videos for prolonged periods.

And when it’s time to recharge, the device supports a 90W FlashCharge which will help users get back to the action without needing to wait for a long time. In addition to this, the X300 also supports a 40W Wireless FlashCharge, giving you fast and hassle-free charging even without cables. When measuring the charging speed of the device, it was able to 32% in just 15 minutes while reaching 100% in only 52 minutes.
