[Games Around the Corner] Week 3, 2021 – Be A Hitman Again

Hitman 3 is launching this week, meaning we get to be occupied for a while with more sandbox assassinations and even a (PSVR-exclusive) VR mode. Also, some previously-released games arrive on next-gen consoles and current-gen consoles respectively.

Hitman 3

Agent 47 is back in Hitman 3, the third instalment of the Hitman reboot trilogy. This time, Agent 47’s sandbox assassination activities will take him to a skyscraper in Dubai, a manor with a murder mystery in England, the neon-lit city of Chongqing, and more. Additionally, there will be a PSVR-exclusive VR mode to carry out assassinations and exploration in first-person. The game will also include the levels from the first two games, although those on Epic Games Store sadly *won’t get the Hitman 2 levels for free - see the pre-launch guide here). The game will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, EGS (where it will be a timed PC exclusive), and Stadia on January 20.

*Update: The pre-launch guide has been updated to say, "On PC, we are continuing to work on a solution with our partners to allow PC players who own HITMAN 1 or HITMAN 2 to import locations from those games into HITMAN 3 at no additional cost.

"We can guarantee that players will NOT need to repurchase the games."

Ride 4

Originally released on current-gen and PC in 2020, Ride 4 is now making its way to next-gen consoles. The motorcycle racing game features hundreds of licensed bikes, a “fully dynamic weather conditions system” and day/night cycle, a career mode, a machine-learning AI system called A.N.N.A. (Artificial Neural Network Agent), customization, and dedicated servers for online play. It will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on January 21.

Bladed Fury

Originally released on PC back in 2018, Bladed Fury will launch on consoles this week. It’s a 2D action game set at the start of the Warring States Period and featuring mythological elements like Hou Yi and Jing Wei. It boasts “a fluid combat experience, a high-octane Combo system, and a plethora of ancient enemies and deities to destroy”. Plot-wise, you’re an exiled Qi princess who seeks revenge against the officer who killed your father, took over as ruler, and framed you. The game will be released on January 21 for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. #gamesaroundthecorner #gatc
