Xiaomi has announced a partnership with Planetarium Negara in order to promote its Mi 11 series as well as to “educate Malaysians about the wonders of space science and astronomy”. The partnership includes a contest with a Mi 11 and a Pulau Mawar Mersing trip as its prizes.
The “Starry Night” contest requires participants to submit a space-themed photo that “best reflects the meaning of the contest theme” using a smartphone. A panel of “professional judges with astrophotography expertise from Planetarium Negara” will judge the submitted photos.
The other steps involved in the contest are:
Like and follow both Xiaomi Malaysia and Planetarium Negara’s official Facebook pages.
Post the photo in the comment section of Xiaomi Malaysia’s Facebook contest post with the following hashtags: #XiaomiMalaysia #PlanetariumNegara #StarryNightwithMi. You’ll also have to tag three friends.
The contest will end on May 17. Any smartphone brand can be used for the photo-taking, but those who are using a Xiaomi phone will have to enable the Xiaomi watermark when doing so.
National Planetarium director Puan Hajah Anita Binti Haji Bahari said of the partnership, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Xiaomi in this campaign and we hope that this collaboration can further inspire everyone to value the importance of astronomy and space science."
Meanwhile, Nicolas Shi, the General Manager of Xiaomi, Malaysia and Singapore, said, “We are honoured and excited to be partnering with Planetarium Negara. We believe that this partnership will not just inspire creativity among Malaysians but encourage them to also explore space science and appreciate the beauty of our solar system.”
