vivo V60 Review: Capture Studio-Grade Portraits with the new ZEISS Portrait Master!

vivo have recently released their brand new vivo V60 Series, an incredibly sleek and versatile smartphone which brings together a stunning design with cutting-edge performances. It also features stunning camera features that will bring your pictures to life, with its collaboration with ZEISS. In this review, we’ll be diving into its design, display, camera system, performance, and battery life to see why the vivo V60 could be the perfect choice for those who want style, power, and reliability all in one device.

Design

The vivo V60 boasts an elegant design as it comes with a refined and modern shape which complements the sleek design it has. It comes with extremely narrow bezels which helps to enhance the viewing experience for its users. Not only that, but the slim profile also makes it comfortable to hold onto.

Meanwhile, on the back of the device, the V60 comes with a minimalistic approach as it features an ultra-compact camera module which occupies less than 9% of the rear panel. This makes the back of the device appear more clean and uncluttered.

While it also comes with stunning design, the vivo V60 also features a sturdy and durable build as well, to ensure that the device would be protected even after accidents. Equipped with the New Diamond Shield Glass, the V60 has the most drop-resistant screen in the V Series history. Besides that, the phone is also built with a drop-resistant cushioning structure which enhances the shock absorption of the device, and this is especially helpful for those who are clumsy and tend to drop their phones often.

Asides from that, the device also comes with a IP68 and IP69 Water and Dust Resistance and this would ensure that the device would be kept safe from dust or water splashes.

The vivo V60 is available in a set of new aesthetic colors inspired by nature’s beauty, and this includes Summer Blue, Mist Gray and the stunning new Berry Purple. Each of these colours will surely be able to appeal to its users with its vibrant and premium colouring.

Camera

Photography is one the key highlights when it comes to the vivo V60 as it features a triple ZEISS camera system which is able to benefit both casual and professional photographers. At its core, it comes with a 50MP ZEISS OIS main camera which is paired with a Sony IMX766 sensor, allowing for remarkable clarity and for sharp results. 

This is also paired together with a 50MP ZEISS super telephoto camera powered by the IMX882 sensor, delivering remarkable clarity and reach for zoomed-in shots without sacrificing detail. And for those looking to capture vibrant scenic landscape shots, then the 8MP ZEISS Ultra Wide Camera will be able to make it possible.

The device also provides a Telephoto Stage Mode feature for users to utilise. So, if you’re a fan of concerts or live performances, the V60 is perfect for you as it will allow you to capture your favourite artists on stage with incredible clarity, even from a distance.

Powering the vivo V60 is the new Qualcomm Snapdragon® 7 Gen 4 chipset, delivering a strong balance of power efficiency and reliable performance for both everyday use, whether it's scrolling through social media or gaming. Not only that, the device also comes with a 12GB RAM while also allowing for another 12GB of Extended RAM expansion, and this will allow multitasking to feel more seamless. It also offers up to 512GB of storage space to allow users to download multiple apps and keep pictures and videos without worrying about running out of storage.

To maintain smooth performance even under heavy loads, the V60 comes equipped with an ultra-large VC cooling system that efficiently dissipates heat, keeping the device stable and comfortable during extended sessions. 

And speaking of gaming, the vivo V60 comes with an Esports Mode which will allow users to be able to enjoy an immersive gaming experience. This mode results in a boost in overall gaming performances, optimises visuals and makes the frame rates feel smoother, this will ensure that users will be able to stay immersed while gaming.

Asides from that, users will also be able to access Performance Mode and this will allow them to switch between three different modes, Battery Saver, Balanced Mode and BOOST in order to match the device’s battery life and still be able to have a pleasant gaming experience.

Battery

The vivo V60 is equipped with a massive 6,500mAh BlueVolt Battery which will be able to provide incredible endurance as a full charge will allow the device to be able to last an entire day without the user needing to worry about the battery life. In fact, users will be able to watch up to 22 hours of YouTube videos without concern of the battery life. Even after that, despite its large battery size, the phone is still able to maintain its slim profile.

I decided to run a test to measure the battery consumption of the vivo V60 after one hour of both video playback and gaming. For the gaming test, I chose the popular gacha game, Wuthering Waves, running it at the highest possible settings while keeping the phone in Esports Mode and Performance Mode.

After a full hour of gameplay, the vivo V60 recorded a 27% battery drain. Considering the game was run at maximum settings with both Esports Mode and BOOST Mode enabled, this level of power consumption is quite impressive.

Moving onwards to the video playback test, I similarly conducted a one hour test for the V60, watching a YouTube video at 1440p. After one hour, the results show that the battery only drained 5% of the battery, which is impressive and is a benefit for users who enjoy watching videos for prolonged periods.

It’s not only the large battery that stands out, as the vivo V60 also supports a 90W FlashCharge, which will allow users to be able to get back to their activities in an instant, even when the battery is running low. When measuring the charging speed, the device was able to charge up to 27% in 15 minutes and be fully charged in only 57 minutes, which is impressive.

Display

The vivo V60 features a 6.78-inch display which comes with extremely narrow bezels which creates a more immersive viewing experience for users. Asides from that, users can enjoy a fluid and responsive screen with the device’s 120Hz refresh rate. Asides from that, the device also comes with an impressive 5000 nits peak brightness, which allows users to get clear visibility on the screen, even when it's under the bright lights.

On top of that, the V60’s display has also been certified by SGS for low blue light, which helps to reduce the eye strain of its users even during prolonged usage.

Verdict

In conclusion, the vivo V60 is an incredible new smartphone that blends style together with performance into a single device. Not only can users expect a wide range of AI features that will help enhance their user experience, they can also expect to capture stunning and sharp portraits using the ZEISS-powered cameras. Priced at RM1,999 for the 12GB + 216GB variant and RM2,999 for the 12GB + 512GB model, users should definitely consider getting this new smartphone, especially if they’re looking to get a new device at an affordable price.
