Tencent Acquires Back 4 Blood Developer Turtle Rock Studios

Tencent has officially acquired Slamfire, the parent company of Back 4 Blood's developer Turtle Rock Studios. Turtle Rock will still be "retaining its independent operations" in California and the acquisition will have "no effect" on Back 4 Blood, according to a press release.

"Tencent’s outstanding partners, global reach, deep knowledge of gaming, and unprecedented support will help us create the kinds of ambitious games we dream of, while allowing us to retain our autonomy and independent spirit," said Steve Goldstein, President and General Manager of Turtle Rock Studios.

Tencent is behind some of the most popular titles that everyone's familiar with. It's the developer of Call of Duty: Mobile, Honor of Kings, and Pokemon Unite. The company also owns the studio behind MLBB and holds a 40% stake in Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite and Unreal Engine.
