Steam Deck developer Pierre-Loup Griffais has clarified his comment about the handheld PC targeting 30 FPS.
In an interview with IGN, Griffais had said that the Steam Deck "targets 30 fps". While that sounds like we won’t get higher framerates on the platform, his recent tweet explains that that won’t be the case.
“The ‘30 FPS target’ refers to the floor of what we consider playable in our performance testing; games we've tested and shown have consistently met and exceeded that bar so far,” Griffais wrote.
His tweet also said that the Steam Deck will have “an optional built-in FPS limiter to fine-tune perf vs. battery life”.
During the IGN interview, Griffais had stated that the Steam Deck can handle “the latest generation of games without a problem”, and that the team had aimed to have the entire Steam library be playable on the Steam Deck. He also said, “We haven't really found something we could throw at this device that it couldn't handle."
