Spotify Will Roll Out New Notification Feature for New Releases from Users’ Favourite Artists

Spotify is rolling out a new feature called “What’s New” that will notify its users every time their favourite artists and podcast producers release new songs or content. The notification will appear in the form of a bell icon on the top right corner of the app’s home interface. “It’s even updated in real time, so you know you’ll get to listen to new content just as it’s released,” said Spotify. A blue dot indicator will appear when there is any new release.

The What’s New feature is somewhat similar to the current Release Radar playlist which introduces new releases to Spotify users to add into their Library. That said, What’s New is a more personalised feed as the content shown is based on what users listen to instead of random new releases for the public. Spotify users can also filter and sort the new content allowing them to find what they’re looking for more quickly. What’s New will be available for all Android and iOS users over the coming weeks.
