Spotify's Wear OS App Will Soon Support Direct Streaming and Offline Downloads
Spotify has announced a major update to its Wear OS app that will soon be available for smartwatches running Wear OS, including the new Galaxy Watch4 series. The new update will let users stream music or podcasts on their smartwatches and Spotify Premium users can even download them straight to their watches, so they can still listen to the content even without a smartphone or when they are offline.

"By having Spotify on your wrist, you’re more free to run, dance, shop, cook, and socialize—and control your music and podcasts at the same time," the company wrote on its blog. Users will be able to download music and podcasts by hitting the "Download to watch" button in the Wear OS app. A little green arrow will appear next to a playlist, album, or podcast once it's downloaded. For free users, they can download podcasts directly to their watches but they will have to stream music in shuffle mode over a Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
According to Spotify, the Wear OS app will support smartwatches from the likes of Fossil, Mobvoi, and Suunto. The company noted that the update "requires your smartwatch to run at least Wear OS 2.0 or higher" and users must also update to the latest version of the Spotify app.
