Malaysian esports organisation SEM9 has announced the acquisition of esports team Berjaya Dragons, seeing all assets under Berjaya Esports Sdn Bhd including Berjaya Corporation Berhad under SEM9 now.
"We could not be more pleased having the seasoned talents from BJD join our talent pool. This assimilation will enable us to optimize the roster for our teams such as Wild Rift. Additionally, this acquisition enables SEM9 to step foot in the League of Legends professional esports. We have our sights set on making our debut in the Pacific Championship Series (PCS), being the sole Malaysian representative," said Kevin Wong, Managing Director of SEM9.
Berjaya Dragons or BJD is a Malaysian esports organisation, known for representing Malaysia in the Pacific Championship Series in League of Legends esports. BJD made its debut in mobile esports in the Icon Series of League of Legends Wild Rift esports this year.
"I am thrilled with this acquisition of Berjaya Dragons. This enabled us to build an even stronger League of Legends: Wild Rift team as well as putting SEM9 and Malaysia on the global map in the League of Legends competitive scene," shared Tommy Chieng, Chairman of SEM9.
