Samsung has unveiled the Exynos W920, a processor built on a 5-nanometer (nm) EUV (extreme ultra-violet) process, designed exclusively for wearables.
The new processor will feature a dual Cortex-A55 cores, a Mali-G68 graphics, and a Cortex-M55 processor dedicated to an always-on-display (AOD) to reduce power consumption. The company claims that the Exynos W920 can offer 20% improvement of CPU performance and a tenfold graphics boost compared to its predecessor.
According to Samsung, the Exynos W920 supports "a new unified wearable platform Samsung built jointly with Google, and will be first applied to the upcoming Galaxy Watch model". We assume the new chip will be in the Galaxy Watch 4 which is expected to be announced during the Galaxy Unpacked event tomorrow.
