Samsung has revealed that it had suffered a data breach recently, with the personal data of customers being compromised.
In a blog post published on 2 September, the South Korean company revealed that an unauthorised third party acquired information from their U.S systems in late July 2022.
“On or around August 4, 2022, we determined through our ongoing investigation that personal information of certain customers was affected,” Samsung said in the blog.
They said that personal data included names, contact information, product registration details and dates of birth. Samsung assured that credit card numbers or social security numbers weren’t compromised.
“We have taken actions to secure the affected systems, and have engaged a leading outside cybersecurity firm and are coordinating with law enforcement.”
