ROG Partners with ACRONYM to Create a Special Edition Zephyrus G14

'Give us the ROG Zephyrus G14, but make it hipster' seems to be the idea behind the ROG X ACRONYM special edition G14. It is named the ROG Zephyrus G14 ACRNM RMT01, where 'RMT' stands for 'reality modelling tool', which seems like a pretty pretentious way to call it a creator laptop.

Already a stand-out in its class thanks to its sleek design aesthetic and eye-catching AniMeMatrix lid, the Zephyrus G14 has received a fresh coat of paint from Errolson Hugh, co-founder of technical apparel design agency ACRONYM, and his long-time collaborator, David Rudnick, whose studio, Terrain, is high sought-after for its visionary approach to visual design.

Together, the duo designed and prototyped a new design language from the ground up,

involving custom materials, etching, machining, specially developed paints, and two bespoke typefaces to bring ACRONYM’s vision to life. While the bezels surrounding the display are now completely devoid of branding, users will notice that the rest of the laptop are now adorned with unique etchings, schematic markings, and iconography that are designed to pique interest.

“We try to break the expected relationship with a product to make the user feel more aware of the product as a tool, and make them more active and engaged with it. It’s too easy to become complacent toward the technology we use and let into our lives, and that can make us passive recipients of information, and thus less creative and less empowered.”

- Errolson Hugh, Co-Founder of ACRONYM

Apart from a revolutionary approach to design, ACRONYM also believes in sustainability and functionality, a belief that can be seen throughout the packaging of the laptop - everything from the box to the unique ACRONYM Airpak laptop sleeve is completely reusable and recyclable.

Specs-wise, this special edition Zephyrus G14 is equipped with a WQHD 60Hz IPS-level panel, a Ryzen 9 4900HS processor, RTX 2060 Max-Q graphics, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of SSD storage.

If you're interested in owning this unique piece of tech, the ROG Zephyrus G14 ACRNM RMT01 will be available from October for a whopping RM11,299 - costing approximately 50% more than the retail price of the vanilla variant of the G14.

Well, there's always a price to pay to own a work of art - this one just happens to be functional as well.

Pre-orders are available immediately; refer here for a list of retailers.
