Riot Games has officially begun their multi-game summer blockbuster event, Sentinels of Light. Riot offers its fans thematically-linked experiences across five of its games: League of Legends, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics, and VALORANT.
Riot will release its first champion across all League-universe games during the event: Akshan the Rogue Sentinel. Akshan will battle against Ruination with a sacred relic weapon, taking revenge on enemies and redeeming fallen allies.
Akshan will be released in the respective games on the following dates:
July 14 on Legends of Runeterra
July 21 on Teamfight Tactics
July 22 on League of Legends, including a Cyber Pop Akshan skin
July 27 on League of Legends: Wild Rift, including a Battle Academia Akshan skin
League of Legends
League of Legends will release an in-client story experience, Rise of the Sentinels, that casts players as a rookie member of the Sentinels travelling across Runeterra to recruit new allies while fighting against Viego. The story is free to play and will be released in weekly chapters. There will be 11 new in-canon skins to be unlocked as players play through the story. On July 8, players will be able to unlock Sentinel Vayne, Sentinel Olaf, Sentinel Irelia, Sentinel Riven, Sentinel Diana, and Ruined Pantheon. Sentinel Graves, Sentinel Pyke, Sentinel Rengar, and Ruined Miss Fortune will be available on July 22. And finally, Unbound Trash will be available in the Event Shop.
League of Legends will also release a new game mode during the event called Ultimate Spellbook. Players will gain an additional champion's Ultimate ability to use along with their own abilities throughout the game.
League of Legends: Wild Rift
Wild Rift will feature an in-game narrative experience as players meet the Sentinels of Light heroes: Lucian, Senna, Riven, Irelia, Vayne, and Akshan. Players will increase their Sentinel Bonds and learn the story behind each hero as they play matches. Players will be rewarded themed items, including one of the heroes for strengthening Bonds and increasing their Sentinel HQ level.
Legends of Runeterra
The event will take place as a mini expansion from Legends of Runeterra’s “Aphelios Champion Expansion”. It will feature Akshan and Viego, as well as 21 other collectible cards focused around the Ruination and the Sentinels of Light.
Players will have to choose an ally between the Ruined or the Sentinels, and they will receive rewards based on who their ally is. Players can only switch sides after they have finished collecting all the rewards from their original side and can start to collect rewards from the other side. All players, regardless of their chosen ally, will be rewarded based on the winning side at the end of the event. There will be 7 new champion skins to be unlocked during the event including Sentinel Irelia, Sentinel Diana, Sentinel Riven, Ruined Shyvana, Ruined Karma, Ruined Draven, and Unbound Thresh.
During the Sentinels of Light event, players will join forces with the Order and battle against Chaos Pengu in Teamfight Tactics Reckoning: Dawn of Heroes. Every player will receive a limited powerful version of their base counterparts. They will receive Radiant Blessings when their Health drops below 40. The Blessings may come in the form of champions, items, gold, spatulas, and consumables.
