WIKO T50
Price: RM 899
Another new phone for me to review, and this one is interesting: The WIKO T50.
The French smartphone debuted in Malaysian markets in January 2016 but hasn’t released a new product since March last year. WIKO is now returning with a bang with the T50, and I am lucky enough to get my hands on it to review it.
Design
The WIKO T50 brings an exquisite design that catches the attention of anyone who lay their eyes on it. Its slim 20:9 aspect ratio also makes the phone extremely comfortable to hold with one hand.
The right side of the smartphone has a power button which incorporates an ultra-thin fingerprint sensor that can quickly unlock your phone. In addition, the phone uses a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The phone also feels extremely light, weighing only 179g and having a width of 73.3mm.
Display
The WIKO T50 has a 6.6-inch edgeless LCD screen with FHD+ 2400 x 1080-pixel resolution and a 94% screen ratio. It can display 16.7 million colours and has a multitouch display that can support ten touch points.
The phone also has a Night Light Mode and a Dark theme for ease on the eyes when used in a low light environment.
Performance
The smartphone is powered with a 12nm Octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 processor, comprising two Cortex-A75 and six Cortex-A55 CPUs for faster single and multi-threaded performance. The processor also comes with a boosted Arm Mali G52 MC2 GPU.
The phone also has HyperEngine enhancements that allow for smooth gameplay through dynamic CPU, GPU and memory management.
The WIKO T50 has 4GB of RAM and storage space of 128GB, a sizable for anyone who likes downloading apps and games on their phone.
Testing the game with Genshin Impact, I was only able to run the game relatively okay on low settings at 30FPS.
Camera
The WIKO T50 has a 64 MP high-resolution camera that has an aperture of f/1.9 and a 1/1.7-inch sensor that can capture every minute detail when taking pictures.
It also has an 8 MP ultra-wide camera with an aperture of f/2.4. This allows for wide angled pictures with a 120-degree field of view that can capture everything in the scenery.
If wide angled scenery shots are not your thing, the WIKO T50 also includes a 2 MP macro camera that allows for extreme close-up shots up to 4cm.
The smartphone also has a 16MP front-facing camera that can also take wide-angled selfies at a crisp 16-megapixel resolution.
The pictures I took using the phone were satisfactory and of decent quality.
Charging
The WIKO T50 include a 4000mAh battery and has a 40W Fast Charge capability. The Fast Charge charges the phone to 25% in 10 minutes and takes 72 minutes to charge fully.
While I feel that the charging speed could be faster, it is still good when you are low on battery and need a quick charge.
Buy or no buy
Overall, I feel that the WIKO T50 is an overall decent smartphone with a unique French aesthetic alongside it. While the overall features of the phone leave a lot to be desired, it is still a pretty good smartphone for people who aren’t fussy over such things but want a little more flair with their smartphones.
For the retail price of RM899, it is a decent smartphone for those looking for a French Touch to their new smartphone.
