With the rise of professional gaming, skills are mostly on par with one another, how do we ensure one can step up in the heat of competition? It all comes down to the equipment used, which is why organizations and professionals have always considered the BenQ ZOWIE for the past decade. So, what does the latest ZOWIE XL2566K monitor have to offer?
Design
The design of the BenQ ZOWIE XL2566K comes in a strong and bold black color all around which is not boring in any means as it is designed to lessen distractions.
The monitor comes with a pair of detachable shields that are designed to help gamers focus on their task and not on any distractions outside the monitor viewing angle. Honestly, this may not be everyone’s pair of accessories but I think the option to have it while gaming is good.
Long hours of gaming get pretty tiring, so ergonomic adjustments like tilt, swivel, and height adjustments can do good in the long run so one can find his/her preferred viewing/gaming angle.
The base of the monitor is also slightly smaller compared to other monitors in the market as this provides more table space for players to flick their mouse and not hit the base.
In terms of connectivity, the ZOWIE XL2566K comes with 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, 1x DisplayPort 1.4 port, and 1x headphone jack.
I kind of hope that this monitor came with even a USB Type-C port as most devices can now be connected via USB-C.
Display
The BenQ ZOWIE XL2566K monitor comes with a 24.5” display and an aspect ratio of 16:9. This size may not be enough for casual gaming but for professionals, this size is rather perfect as everything can be seen.
In terms of smoothness and clarity, this monitor comes with a 360Hz refresh rate Fast TN Panel coupled with Dynamic Accuracy+ technology for an even better gaming experience.
Dynamic Accuracy+ is designed to lessen motion blur, essentially meaning that everything on the screen is as accurate as possible. Spraying looks so much better as the blur is reduced and the clarity is heightened.
This ZOWIE monitor also comes with 3 different types of display settings, Premium (Most clear), High (Medium), and Off (DyAc+ turned off). These are easily accessible in the OSD menu.
Aside from the eye-catching features, this monitor comes with Black eQualizer which makes the dark areas brighter allowing you to see the enemies better but it will not compromise the brighter parts of the game making it overly exposed.
Black eQualiser also comes with 20 levels allowing its users to adjust accordingly until the perfect setting is found.
For even better colour, the colour vibrance technology helps adjust the colour setting within the monitor making the display look more vivid and eye-pleasing.
OSD Remote Control
One thing I personally like is that the OSD comes in a remote control instead of being located on the back of the monitor. This makes changing the display setting a breeze in the midst of a game, no more digging my hands on the back of the monitor while my eyes are staring at the screen.
XL Setting to Share
Every ZOWIE line comes with XL Setting to Share, this feature is essentially an easy way to share your preferred video setting profile to the audience. This feature is great for streamers or professional players who would actually like to share their video settings with their audience.
Speaking of which, here’s my personal XL Setting to Share.
Buy or no buy?
Overall, this monitor serves up to its name as an Esports monitor, the specifications are great and the performance is just as great, if not better.
This monitor will obviously not turn you professional, but it’s good to have a neat setup, whenever you’re playing for long-term comfort.
