Motorola Edge X30 Officially Launches with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Chipset

The very first smartphone powered by the brand new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship chipset has officially launched. Welcome the Motorola Edge X30!

The Edge X30 features a 6.7" OLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It supports 10-bit colour and HDR+ content natively. According to Motorola, the phone should offer 20% better CPU performance, 30% better GPU performance, and a whopping 400% improvement in AI tasks compared to the Snapdragon 888+ chipset. It managed to score 1,061,361 points in the AnTuTu test, taking a 21% lead over the Black Shark 4s Pro, the highest score on the platform to date. The device is equipped with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

The Edge X30 is available in two versions: an X30 Special Edition and the regular X30. The former sports an under-display selfie camera while the latter comes with a punch-hole design. As for the rear camera, both house a triple rear camera module consisting of a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide shooter, and a 2MP depth sensor. Underneath the hood, they use a 5000mAh battery with 68W wired charging support. Both versions run Android 12.

The regular Edge X30 starts from CNY 3,199 (~RM2,199) for the 8+128GB variant. There are also two more options available: 8+256GB and 12+256GB, priced at CNY 3,399 (~RM2,251) and CNY 3,599 (~RM2,384) respectively. On the other hand, the Edge X30 Special Edition is priced at CNY 3,999 (~RM2,649). Both models will be available in China starting from 15 December.

Alongside the powerful Edge X30, Motorola has also launched the new Edge S30, powered by the Snapdragon 888+ chipset. It features a 6.8" IPS LCD display with an FHD+ resolution and up to a 144Hz variable refresh rate.

The mid-ranger also sports a triple rear camera setup comprising a 108MP main camera, a 13MP ultrawide snapper, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, it uses a 16MP lens. While it has the same 5000mAh battery, it supports a slower 33W charging. Instead of Android 12, it will ship with Android 11.

The Motorola Edge S30 will be available at CNY 1,999 (~RM1,324) for the 6+128GB variant and CNY 2,599 (~RM1,721) for the 12+256GB variant. Official sales will begin on 21 December in China.
