After the recent news that Sony will increase its PS5 price amidst economic concerns, Xbox fans were concerned that Microsoft would follow suit and increase the price of the Xbox Series X and S. Microsoft has issued a statement addressing the matter.
In a statement sent to Windows Central, Microsoft confirmed that there are no plans to raise the price of their consoles and that they will remain at their baseline Recommended Retail Price (RRP).
“We are currently evaluating our business to offer our fans great gaming options. Our Xbox Series S suggested retail price remains at 299 USD (RM 1,337) and the Xbox Series X is 499 USD (RM 2,232).
While this is an encouraging sign from Microsoft, there is no guarantee they wouldn’t increase the price in the future. With the global economy still heavily affected by the pandemic and inflation, a price hike would be an inevitability rather than a possibility.
