Melaka to be Given Top Priority for 5G Services, Said Minister of Communications & Multimedia

With Malaysia preparing for 5G services to go online, our Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Tan Sri Annuar Musa said that the 5G services will be given priority to the tourism state - Melaka - with many foreign investors, according to Berita Harian.

Before the services go live, Melaka needs to be equipped with enhanced 4G services first via the Fibre Optic Point of Presence (PoP) programme, which is in line with the National Digital Network (JENDELA) programme where 35 more towers will be added to improve the service.

The minister also said that it should provide a better experience for users in Melaka including schools and various industries. In addition, he asked for the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and telecommunication companies to install "boosters" in many locations in the state as a short term solution.
