Maxis Provides RM500,000 to Yayasan Kebajikan Negara for COVID-19 Aid

Maxis announced that it has provided RM500,000 to Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) for COVID-19 aid purposes. The money is part of the RM1 million that Maxis pledged in MCMC’s “To Malaysia, With Love” initiative.

The contribution will be used to distribute around 5,000 food boxes to communities who have been severely affected by the pandemic. The first wave will be distributed by early January 2021 to communities in Sabah, with other phases for “communities based on needs” coming between January to May. The food boxes will also go towards flood evacuation centers in the peninsular.

Maxis chairman Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad bin Raja Tun Uda said in a statement, “COVID-19 has impacted many of us, but we know that many, especially the B40 and poor segments have been severely affected in terms of their income and livelihood. We appreciate Maxis’ efforts in collaborating with YKN and their contribution to our foundation. This is in line with our mission to help the Government’s aspirations to improve the people’s quality of life. The food aid is much needed to support communities during these difficult times.”
