Kirby Receives a Grammy Nomination

The 2022 Grammys Awards has recently announced the full list of nominees for a variety of categories. While we're used to hearing big names like Beyoncé, Adele, and Jay-Z, the nominee on the list that actually caught our eye this time is none other than the Pink Puffball.

Meta Knight's Revenge (From "Kirby Superstar") is one of the nominated tunes under the category for "Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Capella". The arrangement was written by Charlie Rose and Jake Silverman, and it was performed by The 8-Bit Big Band Featuring Button Masher. The arrangement is a funky version of the original one that appeared in 1996's Kirby Super Star for the Super Nintendo.

Video game nominations are not common at the awards. The first video game soundtrack nominated for Grammys was Austin Wintory's soundtrack for Journey back in 2012 in the "Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media" category. The award eventually went to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
