JJ Lin's Esports Organisation 'Team SMG' Debuts All-Singaporean 'Valorant' Team

Mandapop Singer JJ Lin is expanding his international esports organisation's reach to Singapore with the acquisition of a new team for the hottest game on the block: Riot Games' 5v5 shooter Valorant.

The new lineup consists of Singaporean esports veterans who used to compete in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, another highly competitive FPS title.

Lin, who is an avid gamer, founded Team SMG (Still Moving Under Gunfire) in 2017, starting out with an Arena of Valor (AoV) team in Taiwan; this was quickly followed by the acquisition of a Shanghai-based PUBG team and Makan Cendol, a Malaysian Mobile Legends team.

“This is a milestone in my esports journey, one that is very close to my heart. I strive to nurture home-grown talent in this burgeoning esports scene.”

- JJ Lin, founder of Team SMG

The new Valorant team marks Lin's first foray into the Singaporean esports scene...competitively, anyway - let's not forget how his love of Dota 2 birthed the JJ Lin Timekeeper Music Pack for the highly popular MOBA game.

Team SMG Valorant will be making its competitive debut in the Rise of Legion: Valorant tournament this 27 July.
