HONOR Launches Flagship Magic3 Series Powered by Snapdragon 888 Plus

HONOR has officially launched its first flagship series, the Magic3 series comprising the HONOR Magic3, HONOR Magic3 Pro, and HONOR Magic3 Pro+.

The HONOR Magic3 series features an 89° super curved display and ultra-slim bezels for an immersive viewing experience. The 10-bit screen can display 1.07 million colours and has HDR10+ support. The HONOR Magic3 Pro+ has a super curved nanocrystal shield and a ceramic body that makes it durable while offering a comfortable grip. The series has IP68 water and dust resistance rating which allows it to last for 30 minutes in 1.5 m depth water.

For the camera, the smartphones have a design that HONOR calls "The Eye of Muse", featuring a concave lens that enables light to it for optimised performance. On the other hand, the HONOR Magic3 Pro+ has a camera shutter with a unique hexagonal design. The company uses its own HONOR Imagine Engine, an AI-empowered imaging system, for high-quality images.

The HONOR Magic3 Pro+ packs a quad-camera system comprising a 64 MP monochrome camera, a 50 MP wide camera, a 64 MP 126° ultra-wide camera, and a 64 MP periscope telephoto. The 50 MP wide camera has a 1/1.28-inch colour sensor and a full-pixel Octa-phase detection (PD) autofocus, allowing users to capture moving objects with quick and precise focus. It also supports an optical image stabilizer. For high-resolution wide shots, the 64 MP ultra-wide camera is coupled with a 7 P optical zoom lens whereas, for macro shots, users can capture details as close as 2.5 cm.

The HONOR Magic3 series are the first IMAX-enhanced smartphones in the market bringing them cinematic video recording capabilities supporting LOG format and cinematic level 3D LUT (Look Up Table), which enhance videos with cinematic colour tones and hues as well as HDR clarity. The company has also partnered up with Hollywood colourist Bryan Mamahan to co-create eight exclusive LUTs inspired by classic movies. The smartphones will be able to record 4K HDR videos with clear audio using their three omnidirectional microphones.

Powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 Plus, the HONOR Magic3 series runs on OS Turbo X along with GPU Turbo X for gaming. The company uses superconductive hexagonal graphene technology to reduce heat. HONOR also claims that the smartphones are able to deliver a peak download speed of 6.1 Gbps with its Link Turbo X.

Underneath the hood, the series packs a 4600 mAh battery which supports 66 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging. The Magic3 Pro and Magic3 Pro+ also double as a power bank. For security, HONOR is equipped with a 3D ToF front camera for 3D face ID unlock. Other features include the UX experience, Smart Travel, Security and Privacy, and Mobile Working for a seamless user experience.

The HONOR Magic3 will be available in four colour variants: Golden Hour, Blue Hour, Black, and White, and will start at €899 (~RM4,470). The HONOR Magic3 Pro will be available in three colour variants: Golden Hour, Black, and White, and will start at 1,099 (~RM5,465). Finally, the HONOR Magic3 Pro+ will be available in ceramic white and ceramic black starting from 1,499 (~RM7,454). The HONOR Magic3 series will be released in China first before moving on to global markets.
