Just last week, miHoYo revealed new information on their hit title Genshin Impact's version 1.5 update, including the confirmed release date of the PlayStation 5 version. Although the open-world action RPG is already playable on PlayStation 5 consoles, players have to do so via backward compatibility.

On 28 April, the official PlayStation 5 version of the game will be launched, utilising the full capability of the PlayStation 5's hardware. Most notably, it will run in native 4K resolution and feature enhanced textures and a new graphic library created from scratch for a richer and sharper visuals.

It will also feature a tailor-made file-loading system to take advantage of the PlayStation 5's powerful SSD, allowing for much faster loading times to enable a more seamless gaming experience. Apart from that, PlayStation 5 players will also be able to enjoy the "exclusive view of a remodeled Qingyun Peak in Liyue", which is one of the most popular landmarks in the game.

That's not all, however, as miHoYo has also confirmed that they will further optimise the game to maximise the functionality of the PlayStation 5 version, including additional support for the DualSense Controller's features.

"We've been working to develop various functions to fully utilize this next-gen console in the long run. In future updates, we will have much more potential to elevate the visual quality and game performance — we are only scratching the surface."

- Zhenzhong Yi, Technical Director of miHoYo

The PlayStation 5 version of Genshin Impact will be available on 28 April 2021, coinciding with the release of the game's Version 1.5 update. It will remain free-to-play, and existing players will be able to continue their adventures in Teyvat.
