[Games Around the Corner] Week 46, 2020 – Be A Hyrule Warrior

This week is a bit uneventful, but Switch players do get a new Zelda game that explores what happened a century before Breath of the Wild. And since I somehow forgot about it last week, I’d just like to mention that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is now out, having been released on November 13.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is basically a bundle consisting of the base MK11 game and expansions both old and new. Those expansions include Kombat Pack 1 and Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Expansion, and the new Kombat Pack 2, which includes Mileena, Rain, and Rambo. MK11 Ultimate owners on PS4 or Xbox One will also receive free upgrades to the respective next-gen versions of the game. The game will be released on PS5, PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Stadia on November 17.

Hearthstone: Madness at the Darkmoon Faire

Madness at the Darkmoon Faire is the latest expansion for Hearthstone. The Darkmoon Faire in the title is a travelling carnival in Azeroth that contains exotic creatures, performances, and more. In terms of what gameplay additions the expansion brings for players, there will be 135 new collectible cards, a new game mode called Duels, reworked progression, and a new keyword called “Corrupt”, which upgrade in players’ hands after a higher cost card is played. The Old Gods are also returning, each with different deck types and a Battlecry. Players can also make use of Old God artifacts, which have “zany effects that hearken back to the abilities of the original Old God designs”. Hearthstone: Madness at the Darkmoon Faire will be released on November 17 for PC and Android.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

Basically a blend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, the second Hyrule Warriors game, will send players back 100 years before The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to the time of the Great Calamity, allowing them to discover what happened in the past. Aside from Zelda and Link, players can play as the four Champions as well as Impa in her younger days as they face off against a variety of foes with their respective abilities. The game will be released on November 20 for Nintendo Switch.
