This week, we'll see some familiar titles either from famous writer Agatha Christie's novels or sci-fi TV series Doctor Who. For JRPG fans, Astria Ascending is developed by Kazushige Nojima, the writer behind the Final Fantasy series, among other developers.
Agatha Christie - Hercule Poirot: The First Cases
The detective game is made by Blazing Griffin in collaboration with Agatha Christie Limited. It follows the original story of a young Poirot solving his first cases before he becomes the legendary detective we all know, set in pre-war Belgium. Poirot was invited to a reception by the influential Van den Bosch family, for the announcement of their daughter’s engagement. The event was disturbed when a snowstorm hit the town and one of the guests was murdered.
As Poirot, players must use their deduction skills and connect clues together with a mindmap. Like the original stories, players will have to question members of the family who are also suspects now and explore the house to uncover the murder mystery as well as secrets behind the Belgian upper class.
Developed by a team of developers from Final Fantasy, Nier Automata, and Bravely Default, the JRPG is set in the world of Orcanon where eight Demigods fight a mysterious force of chaos known as the Noises to protect the harmony of the land.
Players will have to choose to play as one of the eight Demigods to fight over 200 monsters in turn-based combat. They will be able to collect and summon beasts to join them on adventures and battles against enemies. Besides the main quests, players will get to enjoy mini-games, including shoot ‘em ups, an original fantasy-themed card game, and challenging environmental puzzles.
Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality
An expansion of the Jodie Whittaker-starring Doctor Who: The Edge of Time in 2019, The Edge of Reality features fan-favourite Tenth Doctor, voiced by David Tennant.
"In this thrilling first-person adventure, a 'reality virus' is wreaking havoc across the universe, causing time glitches that distort the past, present, and future," the game's description reads. "Players will face an entirely new antagonist - The CyberReaper, an ominous foe with a terrifying purpose.
Doctor Who: Th Edge of Reality will be available on Steam, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on 30 September.
