[Games Around the Corner] Week 37, 2021 - Assassins and Monsters

This week, we'll fall into a Deathloop surrounded by assassins on an island. We're also getting the Pokemon-like Nexomon and the sequel of Aragami.

Deathloop

Developed by Arkane Studios, Deathloop is a first-person shooter game where players will play as Colt, an assassin who is stuck in a time loop on the island of Blackreef. To escape the time loop, players must kill eight key assassins across the island before midnight as the time loop will reset if any one of the assassins is still alive.

Alternatively, players can choose to play as Julianna, an agent tasked to protect the time loop and get rid of Colt. As Julianna, players will be able to invade another random player's campaign to kill Colt.

"Every new loop is an opportunity to change things up. Use the knowledge you gain from each attempt to change up your playstyle, stealthily sneaking through levels or barreling into the fight, guns-blazing. In each loop you’ll discover new secrets, gather intel on your targets as well as the island of Blackreef, and expand your arsenal. Armed with a host of otherworldly abilities and savage weaponry, you’ll utilize every tool at your command to execute takedowns that are as striking as they are devastating," the game description read.

Deathloop will be released on Steam and PS5 on 14 September.

Nexomon

Originally debuted on mobile in 2017, Nexomon is a monster catcher JRPG by Vewo Interactive. It's a turn-based JRPG where players explore across 10 regions to catch wild and dangerous Nexomon. Players must train the Nexmon to form the ultimate Nexomon team to defeat the evil Nexomon King. There are a total of 300 Nexomon for players to collect.

Nexomon will make its console debut on Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on 17 September.

Aragami 2

A sequel of Aragami, the third-person stealth game follows the story of the first part but tells a story of a new character. In the first game, players control a shadow spirit called Yamiko. However, Aragami 2 follows the story of an assassin plagued by a supernatural affliction that gives him the ability to control shadows. Assuming the role of the assassin, players must "join the shadow clan and fight the invader armies to protect your people".

Players will fight against the Akatsuchi Empire that has been trying to invade the Rashomon Valley. The full campaign offers solo and co-op modes for up to three players. It will also feature enhanced stealth mechanics and a new combat system.

Aragami 2 will launch on Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on 17 September.
