A French hospital is being held for ransom by cyber criminals after its system was disrupted by ransomware.
According to BleepingComputer, the Center Hospitalier Sud Francilien (CHSF), 28km south of Paris, had to turn away patients and postpone surgeries after its system was attacked on Sunday.
“This attack on the computer network makes the hospital's business software, the storage systems (in particular medical imaging), and the information system relating to patient admissions inaccessible for the time being,” a translated CHSF announcement explained.
French publication Le Monde reported that the attackers demanded 10 million USD (RM 44.7 million) ransom before they release the decryption key to free the hospital’s systems.
Regardless of who is behind the cyber attack, it is honestly a sickening and heinous act to target a hospital for money.
