While we're yet to see devices powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, there are early benchmark results of it online and it seems that the processor is on par with Apple's latest A15 Bionic chipset, which launched in September with the iPhone 13 series.
Popular tipster Ice Universe shared screenshots of three benchmark tests showing the new Snapdragon chipset going against other devices. For 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited, it scored 10,443 points, which falls short a little behind the iPhone 13 Pro at 11,699 points. In the GFXBench T Rex Offscreen test, both came very close with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 scoring 450 points, only 1 point behind the iPhone 13 Pro. However, the former turns the tables in the MGFXBench Manhattan Offscreen ES 3.0 (FPS) test with 267 while the Apple device got 215 points.
Based on the screenshots, the Snapdragon chip might be able to battle Apple's chipset but of course, more tests would be needed to prove so. Meanwhile, the first smartphone featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset is set to debut tonight.
