After almost 3 years of early access, the long-awaited D&D RPG is finally poised for a full release on August 3rd. Shortly a week after its release showcase, Baldur’s Gate 3 is now among the best-selling games on Steam, just behind the all time favourite Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The recent release showcase increased the hype around Baldur’s Gate 3, presenting new features available in the game, including a steamy relationship with a bear.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is an upcoming RPG from Larian Studios, the company behind the critically acclaimed Divinity: Original Sin series, that offers both single-player and multiplayer options. Unlike previous games in the series, Baldur’s Gate 3 uses turn-based combat and is based on the D&D 5e rules which are more beginner-friendly and have lesser restrictions.
Currently Baldur’s Gate 3 is available in Early Access, where players can access around 25 hours of content that encompasses Act 1 of the game and 20% of the game world’s map.
Larian Studios confirmed that upon full release, Baldur’s Gate 3 main campaign will be 75 to 100 hours of gameplay, and completionists striving to discover everything can expect to double this playtime. However, players should take note any progress in the early access would not be carried over as the game would be so different upon full release that it is unlikely to make those save files compatible.
