ASUS ExpertBook P5 (P5405CSA) Review - A Practical Copilot+ Business Laptop That Focuses On Real Productivity

The ASUS ExpertBook P5 (P5405CSA) is introduced as ASUS’s first Copilot+ PC, built for business professionals who want reliability, long battery life, and just enough modern performance with a sprinkle of AI tools to help with meetings and productivity. Positioned as a successor to the efficiency-focused ExpertBook line, the P5 also marks ASUS’ attempt to align its business laptops with Intel’s latest Core™ Ultra processor (Series 2).

After spending some time with it, the ExpertBook P5 feels like a laptop designed for people who move between meetings, airports, coworking spaces, and remote setups every day. It tries to solve practical pain points instead of chasing flashy specs. Here's a breakdown of what worked well for me and what you should take note of.

Design & Build — Light, Clean, and Business-Ready

When I first picked up the ExpertBook P5, what struck me immediately was how professional yet understated it looks. It sticks closely to ASUS’s long-standing business design language minimalist, matte, and quietly premium. It’s got a solid aluminium chassis, which is certified for US MIL-STD 810H durability testing, so it's not too light to feel fragile, but light enough to carry around daily without feeling like a burden. It weighs only 1.27 kg, making it a perfect companion are someone who travels between office floors or works in different locations consistently. The finish resists fingerprints decently, so it doesn’t look grubby and need to be cleaned often.

The hinge is quite solid and opening the lid feels smooth, but generally you will have to do it with both hands, as it lacks a protuding section like some other laptops. Personally I'm fine with that as it looks cleaner this way.

The keyboard has a clean layout with good spacing and a comfortable palm rest. It feels natural for long hours of writing or data entry. The trackpad is wide and easy to use, albeit the click mechanism feels a little soft, especially when pressing near the edges. Some users may prefer a firmer feedback but that's still fine for me since I'm not a very heavy user of it. It's also worth noting that the laptop comes with a mouse in the box.

A key highlight of the design is the ventilation layout. ASUS uses the ExpertCool rear exhaust system that pushes heat outwards through the back. This helps when you use the laptop with a docking station because the airflow is not blocked by the desk surface. During meetings, long calls, or multitasking, the laptop runs at a stable temperature without distracting fan noise.

Display — Sharp Resolution, Smooth 144Hz, But Limited Colour Gamut

The ExpertBook P5 comes with a 14 inch 2.5K (2560x1600) IPS display with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The high refresh rate makes scrolling in documents and web pages feel smooth. It also helps for light video editing or large spreadsheets because animations look fluid. For normal office work or meetings, 60 or 90Hz would have been more than enough. So if you're working a lot with visual contents in your business, this upgrade is pretty noticeable.

I love that it’s matte. The anti glare coating makes working under bright lights more comfortable. If you work next to windows or under ceiling LED lights, reflections stay under control.

Perhaps the only drawback here is the colour accuracy. The panel covers just standard 100% sRGB. It's fine for Word docs, PowerPoint slides, or movies, but definitely not the best screen for colour-critical design work. If you need accurate photo editing or branding work, you may need an external monitor. But for business use? It’s perfectly fine, even excellent.

Performance — Strong Productivity Power with a Serious Efficiency Focus

My review unit ran on Intel® Core Ultra 7 258V, paired with 32GB LPDDR5X RAM and a 1 TB PCIe-4.0 SSD. There is another option of Intel® Core Ultra 5 226V, paired with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and a 1 TB PCIe-4.0 SSD. It comes with an additional SSD slot, and both are upgradable, supporting up to 3 TB of storage, but do note that the RAM is soldered so its fixed at the time of purchase.

For day to day office tasks such as accounting software, dozen of browser tabs, Excel sheets and video meetings, the P5 handles multitasking without lag. The Intel Arc 140V integrated GPU can support basic creative workflows like simple video edits or Lightroom adjustments, but it is not built for heavy creative workloads. It isn’t a gaming GPU, but it wouldn't be a problem to have fun with some light indie games, so it’s definitely an upgrade from typical business laptop graphics.

The Intel® AI Boost NPU plays a vital role here, offering up to 47 NPU TOPS for smooth AI processing. The main benefit is the ability to run AI tasks directly on the laptop without depending too much on cloud services.

AI Features — ExpertMeet and Productivity Tools, Still a Bit Immature

The AI Features mainly revolved around the ExpertMeet suite, a set of tools that helps with meeting producitivity. You get AI Meeting Minutes to capture and transcribe long discussions and summarise them into key points. Pretty useful when you are handling multiple meetings in a day and want accurate notes without manually typing everything. There's also AI Translated Subtitles that translate live conversations on the fly, making cross language meetings more seamless. And you got AI Noise Cancellation, AI Camera to improve your overall meeting experience as well.

ree

The on device AI also allows better privacy. Sensitive information does not always have to be processed in the cloud. If your work involves confidential internal discussions, this is an advantage.

However, some AI features are still in early stages and can occasionally misinterpret sentences or accents. Do not depend on it for perfect summaries yet, but it does save plenty of time and effort.  The AI boosts are noticeable, but not magical, and I think these tools will probably get better over time.

Battery Life — One of the Strongest Points

Battery endurance is one of the strongest points of the ExpertBook P5, and it outperforms many competitors. ASUS rates it up to 28 hours for offline video playback. In productivity testing, PCMark10 recorded over 20 hours. In more realistic mixed usage with WiFi, browsing, document work and calls, it easily lasts a full workday and still has charge left. If you're a frequent traveller or someone who works remotely often, this laptop is extremely reliable. The combination of Intel’s Lunar Lake efficiency and ASUS’ tuning shows noticeable benefits.

Fast charging is via 65W USB-C, and it charges the laptop from 0 to 60 percent in under 50 minutes. This is useful when you need a quick top up during lunch breaks or before your next meeting.

Security and Privacy — All Round Protection with ExpertGuardian

Security is a major focus for the ExpertBook P5. ASUS includes its ExpertGuardian system which provides enterprise grade BIOS protection, tamper detection, rollback prevention and self repair functions. This helps protect the laptop from firmware attacks.

There is a discrete TPM 2.0 module and Windows Secured core support. This means the laptop is suitable for organisations that follow strict security guidelines.

Access is simple with fingerprint login or facial recognition. The webcam also has a physical privacy shutter for peace of mind in public environments.

ree

One more useful inclusion is a 3 year subscription of McAfee+ Premium which can detect modern threats including deepfake audio. In a time where social engineering scams are getting more advanced, this is surprisingly helpful.

Ports & Connectivity — All the Essentials

The P5 offers a practical selection of ports, which includes

  • 2x Thunderbolt 4 USB C

  • 2x USB A

  • HDMI

  • 3.5 mm audio combo jack

This port selection fits most office setups without forcing you to use dongles. You can plug in monitors, storage drives, peripherals and chargers easily. WiFi 7 support helps with fast and stable connections in busy office networks.

One thing missing is an Ethernet port. If your company still uses wired connections, you will need an adapter, and good news is that you got one that comes with the box

Verdict - A Strong Business Laptop With Excellent Battery Life and Modern Efficiency

The ASUS ExpertBook P5 (P5405CSA) is a solid choice for business professionals who want a lightweight and secure laptop that focuses on real productivity. It offers strong AI support, long battery life and enterprise level security in a body that is easy to carry around.

It is not a flashy laptop, and it isn’t trying to be a design-studio machine, a premium flagship, or a high-end editing powerhouse. Instead, it’s a high-efficiency, long-lasting, productivity-first laptop designed for anyone who needs a reliable laptop for multitasking and meetings.

ree

If your work relies heavily on colour critical design or high performance creative tasks, you may need a different machine. For business productivity, the ExpertBook P5 definitely delivers consistent and dependable results. Its strengths, which includes battery life, performance, portability, and build, make it a dependable workhorse. The drawbacks, like trackpad quirks and limited colour range, are noticeable but not deal-breakers for its target audience.
