This may seem like a “sus” fact, but Among Us wasn’t released in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. It was released in 2018.
What’s even more surprising is that Among Us was abandoned before its sudden resurgence in popularity.
In an Overcome’s Visionaries podcast, Innersloth co-founder Marcus Bromander revealed that the development team abandoned the game in 2019.
He said that after the release of the third map and enough bug fixes, they decided it was enough to work on something else.
“Then when Among Us took off again we were like we should ride the wave.”
Innersloth also had plans to make Among Us 2, before cancelling it to continue updating the original game.
