Alien: Fireteam Co-op Shooter Gets 25 Minutes of Gameplay

Alien: Fireteam, an upcoming three-player co-op shooter by Cold Iron Studios set in the Alien universe, has received a 25-minute gameplay video via IGN First.

The footage offers a peek at an early stage of the game, and it has the dimly-lit industrial locations, Xenomorph shrieks, and acid that you’d expect from a game based on Alien, along with weapons like the Smartgun.

Alien: Fireteam will have over 20 types of Xenomorphs, with some of the enemies shown including the exploding Burster and acid-spitting Spitter. On the colonial marine side, there will be five classes - Gunner, Demolisher, Technician, Doc, and Recon – with bespoke abilities and perks to choose from, as well as 30 primary weapons. Players can carry two primaries and a side arm into battle.

Missions will feature challenge cards that can alter the experience in a similar vein as Left 4 Dead’s mutators, and both classes and weapons can be levelled up. The game has 12 missions split into four story-driven campaigns.

There’s nothing mind-blowing about the gameplay, but it looks like decent co-op fun nevertheless. The game is planned for a Summer 2021 release for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
