Activision Blizzard Lost Millions Of Users In 2022

Activision Blizzard saw a massive loss in active players from 2021 to 2022.

In the company’s recent earnings call, Activision Blizzard noted a downward trend of active players. The player count went from 408 million to 361 million players in a year. Activision saw a loss of 11 million players from 30 March 2022 to 30 June 2022 alone.

Multiple factors could have contributed to the lower player count. One reason could be the mixed reception of Call of Duty Vanguard, which sold less compared to previous titles.

Another reason could be the multiple controversies Activision Blizzard experienced in 2021 regarding allegations of workplace sexual harassment.

However, with the publisher set to release both Overwatch 2 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 in October, Activision Blizzard might see a resurgence in players soon enough.
