A new cinematic trailer for Total War: Warhammer 3 called Trial By Fire has dropped, showing new, bear-riding faction Kislev facing off against the hordes of Chaos and awakening a giant ice bear to aid them.
A gameplay reveal video was also dropped on the same day, with the video revealing a new mode called Survival Battle that will drop players into “the heart of enemy territory”. The mode will see players spending supplies to deploy defenses such as barricades, traps, buffs, reinforcements, and “projectile towers”. However, it doesn’t seem to be a solely defensive affair as the gameplay reveal sees the Kislev forces, which include bear-pulled cannons, bear cavalry, and their Ice Witch ruler Tzarina Katarin Bokha, moving through a Khorne fort situated in The Realm of Chaos to capture and defend several objectives.
Total War: Warhammer 3 was announced in February and will release on Steam and Epic in late 2021. The game will go beyond the mortal realm by letting players enter the Chaos Realms, which are being fought over by Warhammer’s four Chaos Gods. The game will also mark the debut of both the Russia-like Kislev and the little-known, Chinese-like Grand Cathay factions.
