Zoom Is Rolling Out New "Focus Mode" to Help Students Study Online Without Being Distracted

For most of us who are either studying or working from home during this pandemic, paying full attention to online classes and e-meetings is difficult because there are just so many distractions at home. Well, Zoom is rolling out a new update called the Focus Mode to help students concentrate better during their online classes.

According to the company, Focus Mode allows teachers to "see their students’ videos, and students to see their teachers without seeing other class participants". With the new feature, teachers can still supervise the class while students can focus without being distracted by their classmates' video feeds or "feel self-conscious about turning on their own camera".

The Focus Mode is compatible with Windows 5.7.3 or higher and macOS 5.7.3 or higher. The feature can be enabled or disabled for accounts, groups, or individual users. The feature can be turned on after starting a meeting by clicking the More button.
