Xbox, Nintendo and Sony reportedly to skip E3 2023

All three of gaming's first-party console manufacturers reportedly set to sit out the event.

Sony Interactive Entertainment, Microsoft, and Nintendo will not attend E3 2023, according to an IGN report citing “multiple knowledgeable sources."

Last week, Xbox's announced that it would be returning to Los Angeles for its annual summer showcase while declining to confirm whether it would be part of the show itself.

Speaking to IGN last week, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said it was timing its showcase at a moment “convenient for press and even consumers,” suggesting it will be held roughly around the same time as E3 2023.

Nintendo has also traditionally maintained a booth on E3's showfloor even after pioneering the "Direct" format. However, sources from IGN has heard that neither Nintendo nor Sony will be at E3 2023.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has not participated at an E3 event since E3 2019 over reported disagreements with the event organizers, Entertainment Software Association (ESA). It's currently unclear whether Nintendo and Sony intend to time a showcase with the event.

At the time of this writting, neither the Entertainment Software Association nor any of the three platform holders have commented on IGN’s report.

E3 2023 will run from June 13 to 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
