vivo X Fold5 Review: The Foldable Phone That’s Built for Modern Professionals!

vivo has just introduced the latest addition to their X Fold series with the new vivo X Fold5! It's an incredible new device that is able to blend together premium design with powerful performances while also utilising the next-gen foldable technology, making it lightweight and durable at the same time, living up to its slogan, So Light, So Strong. 

In this review article, we’ll be taking a closer look at the X Fold5’s design, display, camera, performance, Smart AI Productivity Tools and battery performance to see if it truly stands as the ultimate foldable phone for you.

Design

The vivo X Fold5 boasts a refined and minimalist aesthetic which not only gives it a more premium appearance, but also allows for greater comfortability for its user. With this unique style, it is sure to be able to stand out, whether it's folded or unfolded.

The device comes with a sleek and lightweight design as it weighs at just 226 grams (for Feather White) and 217 grams (Titanium Gray) and it has a thickness of just 9.2mm (when folded) and an ultra-slim 4.3mm (when unfolded). This not only adds to its sophisticated appearance but it also enhances the comfort for users as they will be able to easily place the phone into their pockets or even holding it with one hand.

Furthermore, another showcase of the phone’s sleek design would be the fact that the X Fold5 is equipped with a powerful and long-lasting 6000 mAh BlueVolt Battery. Yet, despite the battery’s large capacity, the phone remains thin and easy to hold, which is an incredible feat.

As a result of its lathe battery size, the phone is guaranteed to be able to last the whole day of video playback, social media and even gaming as it comes with an energy density of 866 Wh/L. In fact, it is able to handle up to 80.6 hours of music playback and 13.2 hours of online meetings. 

So, I decided to conduct a test, wanting to measure the battery consumption of the X Fold5 after an hour for both video playback and gaming. For the game, I selected the popular and well-known gacha game, Wuthering Waves and played it with the settings all set to the highest possible while the phone was also in Esports Mode and Performance mode. 

The results showed that a total of 27% of the battery was consumed in the hour, and although that is a lot, I believe that the consumption is actually good considering that both Esports Mode and Performance Mode was turned on. So, if you’re someone who favours a high-graphic and resolution gaming experience, then this can be something worth trying.

Meanwhile, with YouTube, I conducted a one-hour test, playing a 1440p YouTube video, and after an hour, the results showed that 14% of the battery was consumed, which is a very impressive feat and it also showcases how reliable it is for those who enjoy watching videos for prolonged periods.

Aside from just having a large battery, the X Fold5 also supports a 80W Dual-Cell FlashCharge, allowing the phone to charge rapidly back to full, allowing you to get back to the task at hand in an instant. It also comes with a 40W wireless FlashCharge, which is still as good as it gives you the convenience of cable-free charging without sacrificing much on speed.

When measuring the charging speed of the device, it was able to 35% in just 15 minutes while reaching 100% in only 45 minutes. This charging speed for the device definitely feels faster in comparison to a lot of other devices.

The vivo X Fold5 is available in two different colours for consumers, the ethereal and elegant, Feather White or the sturdy and bold Titanium Gray. Though it's clear to see that both choices would be able to suit everyone.

Smart AI Productivity Tools

In addition to its powerful performance and sleek foldable design, the vivo X Fold5 also comes packed with a variety of Smart AI Productivity Tools aimed at enhancing everyday use. Whether it's to edit your pictures, or for easier accessibility, these AI tools will be sure to make things more efficient and convenient for its users.

Boasting a 8.03-inch AMOLED main display which comes with a clear 2480 × 2200 resolution for sharp detail and vibrant colors. Though, for those wanting quick access without unfolding the phone, then they can use the 6.53-inch AMOLED screen. Though it has a lower resolution than the main screen, it still offers an impressive 2748 × 1172 resolution that ensures content looks just as vivid and clear.

This is especially the case with the X Fold5’s ZEISS Master Colour Display, as users will be able to enjoy a vibrant and life-like viewing experience even when you’re gaming or watching videos.
