The USB Promoter Group announced a newly updated specification for the USB4 Version 2.0.
According to an announcement by the group, the update would enable transfer speeds of up to 80Gbps. It also enables USB 3.2 data tunnelling to exceed over 20Gb per second and also supports the latest DisplayPort and PCIe versions.
“This updated USB4 specification doubles data performance to deliver higher levels of functionality to the USB Type-C ecosystem,” USB Promoter Group Chairman Brad Saunders said.
The update will be published ahead of the USB DevDays developer event in November.
