Is that a wand in your robes, or are you just happy to see me?
Back in 2018, Redditor u/VapeThisBro leaked footage of a role-playing game set in the Harry Potter universe. Since then, the Harry Potter fanbase has been waiting with bated breath on the eventual announcement and release of the game, and from recent reports, it looks like they don't have to wait much longer!
Anonymous sources attached to the game development team has since confirmed its existence. The project, headed by Avalanche Software (a Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment subsidiary), is scheduled to be released on console platforms late 2021. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic - amongst other issues - the sources confirm that the game remains on track for a debut next year!
With customisable avatars and magical creatures in an open world setting based on the Harry Potter universe, the storyline centers around your character who was accepted late to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As most stories go, the moment you arrive to the school, trouble begins, and you'll lead the charge to discover and stop evil forces.
An announcement of the game was expected at E3 in June this year, but was held back due to the COVID-19 pandemic; however, it won't be long before we get to cast Unforgivable Spells on our opponents, and conjure our own Patronuses soon (I want mine to be a shark!)
