This week, the Epic Games Store is giving away two RPGs in the form of Pillars of Eternity – Definitive Edition and Tyranny – Gold Edition, both made by Obsidian Games and published by Paradox Interactive.
Pillars of Eternity – Definitive Edition includes the base game, Part 1 and 2 of The White March expansion, and extra content from the Royal Edition. It’s set in the world of Eora, which players can explore with their party as a Human, Aumaua, Dwarf, Elf, Godlike, or Orlan character. The available classes include Barbarian, Chanter, Cipher, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Priest, Ranger, Rogue, and Wizard. The game features various factions that can be sided with, a reputation system, and real-time-with-pause combat.
Meanwhile, Tyranny – Gold Edition consists of the base game, the Tyranny Expansion, and all DLC. Steam describes the base game as “an RPG with meaningful, world-altering choices, unique and memorable companions, and a new perspective on morality. Tyranny casts you as the arbiter of law in a world devastated by war and conquered by a despot. Will you work inside the system or try to dismantle it… and will it be for the glory of Kyros, for the good of the world, or for your own ambition?” Like Pillars of Eternity, it has real-time-with-pause combat.
Epic Games also announced that from December 17, there will be a free game everyday for two weeks, with the games being up for grabs within their respective 24 hours time periods. That date will also see the start of the Epic Games Store Holiday Sale.
