Time-loop FPS Deathloop Gets Release Date
Arkane Lyon’s upcoming game Deathloop will be released on May 21, 2021. The release date announcement was accompanied by a trailer offering snippets of gameplay.
Deathloop is a first-person shooter set in what seems to be the modern day or near-future, although the protagonist’s teleportation ability and the masked high society-like enemies do bring back memories of Arkane’s Dishonoured.
The title of the game comes from its central premise, which sees protagonist Colt being stuck in a timeloop on the island of Blackreef. In order to get out of there, he’ll have make use of his powers and arsenal to assassinate eight targets within the day, but making things complicated is Julianna, who is tasked with maintaining the loop and is on the hunt for Colt.
“Learn from each cycle; try new paths, gather intel and find new weapons and abilities,” reads the description. “Do whatever it takes to break the loop.”
Deathloop will be released as a PS5 console exclusive. It will also be on PC.
