The upcoming iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max may finally have always-on display (AOD) as Apple could introduce the feature in iOS 16, according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.

Gurman says that when the always-on mode is enabled, the lock screen's frame rate will drop to conserve energy while the display is always on. While it's expected to work similarly to the Apple watches, it's still unclear if Apple will use the same LPTO display on the wearables. iOS 16 is expected to bring the feature with functions including wallpapers with "widget-like capabilities".
AOD is already available on many Android devices. The AOD on Samsung smartphones shows time, battery level, widgets, and more even when the devices are locked.
