Katsuhiro Harada, the producer and director of Tekken 8, has announced during the 2024 Evo tournament in Las Vegas that one fan-favourite character from the franchise is set to return to the game as a DLC Character!
Heihachi Mishima, one of the main antagonists of the Tekken franchise, as well as the father of Kazuya Mishima and grandfather of Jin Kazama. Though he was announced dead at the end of Tekken 7 after Heihachi's grueling fight with his son. Harada mentioned that the character would not be dead for long after being released in a trailer as the next DLC character in Tekken 8.
In the trailer, a mysterious figure, wearing a white tiger mask, was shown taking down Mishima Zaibatsu warrior monks before panning to different characters and locations, one of which included the volcano that Heihachi was thrown into at the end of Tekken 7. With a maniacal grin present, with his distinct appearance, Heihachi emerged from the smoke, his clothes and skin burnt, as he shouted his name, as if introducing himself to those watching the trailer. The end of the trailer showcased the title "The King of Iron Fist Resurrection".
It was confirmed by Harada that Heihachi will be released in the fall of 2024 as part of Tekken 8's Season 1 DLC fighter roster. What are your thoughts about the return of Heihachi in the Tekken franchise? Leave it in the comments below!
