Sony Permanently Shuts Down PS3 and PS Vita LittleBigPlanet Servers

Sony has permanently shut down the servers for LittleBigPlanet games on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita after "extended downtime".

"We have no doubt that this news will come as a big disappointment to a lot of you," the LittleBigPlanet team wrote. "Ultimately, this is the best way to protect the LittleBigPlanet community and to help ensure that our online environment remains safe".

Back in May, Sony temporarily shut down LittleBigPlanet's online services, following reports of DDOS attacks and hackers posting offensive messages.

The original trilogy of LittleBigPlanet games will only be playable for single-player campaigns and local co-op. This also means that players who are using PS3 won't be able to upload or download new user-created levels anymore.

The good news is that developers have updated the PS4 version of LittleBigPlanet 3 and the game's servers are now back online. Players will gain access to more than 10 million community levels, including all those users created on the three PS3 games, as reported by Eurogamer.
